Before tweets we had sonnets.

It's funny to think of William Shakespeare struggling with the ever shortening attention spans of audiences in his day. The idea that it drove him to condense a 5 act play into a sonnet is a novel one - but not so far fetched. Artists and writers have been experimenting with grabbing, holding and playing with attention since...forever. Of course they spend a lot of time crafting what they want to be expressing - but they also know if the audience is bored then they have failed. If you are a marketer, take a look at what playwrights have done with playing with time. What insight can you gain when it comes to getting and sustaining interest from your audiences?
Take a minute to read this article about poor old William's distress on the ever changing audience attention span.
